TOWNSHIP OF NORTH HANOVER

 

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE TOWNSHIP CODE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF NORTH HANOVER BY CREATING THE PART-TIME POSITIONS OF “FIRE OFFICIAL” AND “FIRE INSPECTOR” AND ESTABLISHING REQUISITE DUTIES, RESPONSBILITIES AND SALARY RANGES FOR SAID POSITIONS

 

WHEREAS the Township Committee of the Township of North Hanover believes that it is in the best interest of the Municipality to create new part-time positions entitled “Fire Official” and “Fire Inspector” for the North Hanover Township Bureau of Fire Prevention; and

 

WHEREAS, the Township Committee further desires to establish the duties, responsibilities, and salary range for said positions.

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Township Committee of the Township of North Hanover as follows:

 

SECTION 1.  The positions of “Fire Official” and “Fire Inspector” be and are hereby established as part-time positions and the salary ranges of the employee appointed to said positions are hereby fixed in the following schedule, subject to appointment by resolution of the Township Committee:

 

TITLE                                                                                                PER HOUR

FIRE OFFICIAL (INCLUDING FIRE INSPECTOR)                     Range $26.00-$35.00

 

FIRE INSPECTOR (NON-FIRE OFFICIAL)                                   Range $20.00-$25.00

 

SECTION 2: Duties and Responsibilities: The Fire Official shall be appointed by and report to the Township Committee and shall be responsible for the supervision and control of the North Hanover Township Bureau of Fire Prevention. The Fire Official shall ensure that inspectors or other employees that may be employed to work within the Bureau of Fire Prevention have the requisite certifications, where required, and necessary work experience. The Fire Official shall ensure that the Bureau of Fire Prevention is complying with all pertinent requirements of the Uniform Fire Safety Act and Uniform Fire Code. The Township Committee shall appoint the Fire Inspector, upon recommendation of the Fire Official. The Fire Inspector shall conduct such inspections as required and at the direction of the Fire Official. Such inspections shall be conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Uniform Fire Safety Act and the Uniform Fire Code.

 

SECTION 3. All Ordinances inconsistent with the above are hereby repealed.

 

SECTION 4. This Ordinance and the salaries herein are subject to all federal laws, rulings, and guidelines concerning prices and wages.

 

SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately after its final passage and publication according to law.

NOTICE

This ordinance shall take effect immediately after final passage and publication according to law. This Ordinance published herewith was introduced and passed upon first reading at the regular meeting of the Township Committee of the Township of North Hanover held on March 3, 2022. It will be further considered for final passage after a public hearing to be held on March 17, 2022, at the Municipal Building, 41 Schoolhouse Road, Jacobstown, NJ at 7:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, at which time and place any person’s desire to be heard upon the same will be given an opportunity to be heard. Copies are available free of charge at the Municipal Clerk’s Office prior to the public hearing.
