Department: Recreation Volunteer Form - Please read the following information before completeing the form. (Print form then complete and mail or deliver to the Township) Recreation Committee:
The recreation committee is an advisory committee to the
township committee and is charged with running all township
recreation activities. As a member, you participate in
making decisions about how to best facilitate township
recreation events. Meetings are once per month (first
Tuesday of each month).

If you would rather not be a
member of the committee and/or are only interested in
helping out for a particular event there are many
opportunities to assist with particular events or aspects of
the sports programs. There may be various subcommittees that
assist the recreation committee throughout the year.
Youth Sports: Select coaches,
select/purchase equipment, uniforms, assist with team
selection, represent NHT at league level, coordinate
facility usage, awards, coach education, promote programs,
and organize volunteers to assist coaches Adult Sports:
Help organize; direct, and run different adult recreation
sports programs (currently basketball and volleyball).
Coordinate facility usage, advertise and promote programs,
etc. Coaching Education:
Develop materials (skills, drills, games, resources, etc.)
to assist coaches with teaching children the necessary
skills in the correct progression in a manner that
encourages full and continued participation in the sport. Awards:
Organize Award ceremonies for each sport (including baseball
opening day activities), purchase awards, ensure that all
coaches, volunteers and athletes are recognized,
discard/donate extra awards.
Uniforms:
Work with sports commissioners to select uniforms (style,
colors, and quantities), identify/select vendor(s), maintain
inventory of uniforms, and discard/donate
old/damaged/unneeded uniforms. Registration:
Tracking coach registration and certification classes,
advertise recreation programs and events, recruit
participants for youth sports and community events, assist
with youth sports registration Field Maintenance &
Improvement: Develop and execute facility
maintenance plan, develop plan to improve NHT sports
facilities and work with Rec Committee to implement, ensure
facilities are maintained, cleaned and properly prepared for
each season (e.g., spring/fall clean-ups). Community Events:
For each of the events, volunteers are needed to perform
some or all of the following: organize the events, obtain
use of facilities, recruit and organize volunteers, solicit
and organize sponsors and/or vendors, purchase supplies,
obtain food vendors, work with the township committee and
different township services, etc.
